Philosophy | Everything Under One Roof | Catering | Why UBC? The Alma Mater Society of UBC provides complete conference services. We offer meeting rooms, tradeshow facilities, catering, restaurants, and shopping... all conveniently located in one building in a spectacular setting. Our Conference Coordinators offer you personalized service while assisting you in planning a successful event, whether it be renting a classroom for a day or a full-scale corporate event that includes a dinner buffet. We have a wide variety of rooms, most with natural lighting, and a huge variety of services on site. Our main conference season is during the non-academic year at UBC (May 1 to August 31). There is limited space available during the school year (September to April) so contact your Conference Coordinator to check for availability. Our Conference Coordinators are committed to remaining flexible to new ideas, as well as your requests and needs, to enable each and every event to be special, enjoyable, and memorable. We provide outstanding value with the ideal balance: A cost-effective function with the highest standard of quality and service. Our strong commitment to sustainable practices means that we strive to keep the environment a priority when planning and organizing all events in our building. We use recycling bins in our conference area, we print on recycled paper when possible, and we recycle all badges and printed materials after all conferences. UBC's Student Union Building (SUB) is a unique venue for any conference, as it has so many services all under one roof and in a beautiful natural setting. SUB is conveniently located within walking distance to UBC accommodations and all university amenities and facilities. A unique and productive environment, SUB offers just about everything: a travel agency, car rental, hair design salon, photocopying shop, post office, pubs, restaurants, cappuccino bar — even an arcade! Free access computer terminals in the building allow you to check your email and access websites in your downtime. We offer catering services including breakfast buffets, luncheons, coffee service, appetizer trays, and dinner buffets. Not to mention our succulent desserts and specialty cakes. So look no further for help with your event. We use Fair trade coffee and recycle whenever possible. Situated in Point Grey, UBC offers a stunning view of Howe Sound. Amidst a backdrop of snow capped mountains, ocean, and fresh air, there are many tourist attractions on campus for you and your participants to enjoy while visiting. Just minutes away is the famous Museum of Anthropology, the Botanical Gardens, and the Nitobe Gardens. If you want fresh air, why not try hiking in Pacific Spirit Park, visit our world famous beaches, walk a trail, or try a round of golf? UBC's public golf course & driving range are fantastic amenities, open since 1929. And don't miss out on the Aquatic Centre and a world class gym in the student recreation centre. Our location is less than half an hour from downtown Vancouver — easy to get downtown but well removed from the hustle and bustle. We offer campus suites as well as dorm style accommodation. |
